Location: Gateshead Council Civic Centre, NE8 1HH

Hours: Monday - Friday 9.30am - 4.30pm

Role Purpose

The Lead Generator / Telesales will be responsible for proactively contacting organisations to introduce our apprenticeship provision, outline the key benefits of apprenticeships, and secure qualified meetings for our Business Development Officer. This role is crucial in generating new business opportunities and building a strong sales pipeline through confident outbound telephone activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively contact employers via outbound telephone calls to introduce our apprenticeship services
  • Identify key decision-makers within organisations (e.g. HR, Directors, Managers)
  • Clearly and confidently explain the benefits of apprenticeships, including workforce development, skills gaps, productivity, and funding advantages
  • Effectively handle objections and concerns to progress conversations
  • Qualify leads by understanding employer needs, vacancies, and workforce challenges
  • Secure and book short Microsoft Teams meetings for the Business Development Officer
  • Accurately record call outcomes, notes, and follow-up actions on the CRM system
  • Maintain consistent call volumes and activity levels in line with agreed targets
  • Work closely with the Business Development team to ensure a smooth handover of qualified leads
  • Keep up to date with apprenticeship funding rules, sectors, and programmes (training provided)

This is primarily telesales and you will be required to ring companies all day and generate leads for apprenticeships for our Business Development Officers. You will also need IT skills to update our CRM system. Good communication skills are essential.
