Responsibilities:

  • Examine patients’ eyes, assess vision, and provide advice on visual problems as well as prescribing and fitting spectacles or contact lenses when needed.
  • Diagnose sight problems such as nearsightedness or farsightedness and manage related conditions.
  • Provide treatment such as contact lenses or glasses.
  • Inform patients and explain how to take care of their eyes. Educate on how to clean and wear contact lenses.
  • Collaborate with other medical practitioners and share care for patients with chronic ophthalmic conditions.
  • Undertake continuing education and training.
  • Manage staff, including dispensing opticians and clerical staff.
  • Administer, organize and plan the development of the practice.
  • Coordinate with sales representatives from vision care product suppliers.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to members, employees and vendors at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Hold an Optometry degree approved by the GOC.
  • Service-oriented with a track record of going the extra mile.
  • Energetic and familiar with working in a fast-paced environment.
