An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Aerospace Senior Engineering Manager to join a globally recognised engineering organisation supporting commercial aircraft modification programmes across the UK and Europe. This position offers the chance to lead high-performing engineering teams responsible for delivering certified aircraft modification solutions across a wide range of commercial aerospace programmes.

Working within an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation environment, you will play a key role in the technical development, certification, and delivery of engineering data supporting STCs, minor modifications, and repairs for both wide-body and narrow-body aircraft platforms. This is a highly visible leadership role combining technical authority, strategic influence, project delivery, and people management within a fast-paced aerospace engineering environment.

The Role

As Aerospace Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading engineering activities across aircraft payload and modification programmes, ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with customer and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with internal engineering teams, airworthiness specialists, customers, commercial teams, and global stakeholders to deliver innovative and technically robust aircraft modification solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading day-to-day engineering delivery activities including project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management
  • Providing technical leadership for the development of engineering data supporting STCs, repairs, and aircraft modifications under EASA Part 21 Subpart J
  • Managing and mentoring engineering teams and first-line managers, supporting technical development and succession planning
  • Coordinating with customers, sales, and commercial teams to align technical solutions with programme and business objectives
  • Supporting certification activities and ensuring timely submission of technical documentation to regulatory authorities
  • Reviewing and approving engineering deliverables including drawings, technical reports, bulletins, and modification documentation
  • Driving continuous improvement across engineering processes, certification methodologies, and working practices
  • Supporting regulatory compliance activities and contributing towards the ongoing development of Design Organisation Approval procedures
  • Providing leadership across complex, multi-disciplinary aerospace engineering programmes

About You

To be successful within this Aerospace Senior Engineering Manager position, you will demonstrate a strong background in aircraft modification engineering alongside proven leadership capability within regulated aerospace environments.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Degree qualification in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Strong experience within aircraft modifications, certification, or design engineering environments
  • Good working knowledge of EASA Part 21 requirements and large aircraft certification processes
  • Previous experience leading engineering teams within aerospace programmes
  • Experience working within design and certification-focused engineering roles
  • Knowledge of Airbus and Boeing aircraft platforms, both wide-body and narrow-body
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong project management capability with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience driving process improvements and business change initiatives
  • A collaborative and adaptable approach within international engineering teams

Experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) or knowledge of FAA and additional airworthiness regulations would be advantageous.
