Connect Appointments is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join an established food production business based in Freuchie (near Glenrothes) on a full-time permanent basis. Our client operates a busy food processing facility in Fife, offering a competitive salary, a 4-on 4-off continental shift pattern and a clear commitment to safety and professional development.
What's on offer?
- Full‑time permanent position
- 4‑on 4‑off continental shift pattern of days and nights:
- Days: 6am to 6pm
- Nights: 6pm to 6am
- £47,288.80 per annum

As a Mechanical Engineer, your duties will include:
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems, machinery and production lines
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults to minimise downtime
- Maintaining conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics and other mechanical components
- Supporting the installation and commissioning of new and upgraded equipment
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and collaborating with production and electrical teams to improve equipment reliability
To be considered as a Mechanical Engineer, you will need:
- SVQ3 and HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Proven experience in an industrial or food processing environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and industrial machinery
- Experience with preventive maintenance programmes and CMMS
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP or similar food safety systems
