We are working with a global Software, Systems & Engineering company in the Defence Sector, supporting them with appointing an Electronic Technician. You will play a key role in helping us ensure customer systems meet Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and TEMPEST requirements, supporting the safety, security and performance of critical defence and national security systems.
In this hands-on role, you will be involved in the planning, setup and execution of EMC/TEMPEST tests, working directly with customer equipment and contributing to high quality technical documentation under UKAS accreditation.
Salary: £37-38k per annum + company benefits, including 25 days holiday plus a highly competitive pension scheme.
Location: Farnborough - 100% onsite.
Working hours: 37 per week.
Duration: permanent, full time.
Requirements: sole UK nationals living and working in the UK for the past 5 years.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting the development of EMC test plans under guidance
- Setting up customer equipment for EMC and TEMPEST testing
- Conducting EMC/TEMPEST measurements using specialist RF equipment
- Analysing test data and contributing to detailed technical test reports
- Working closely with senior engineers and customers to ensure smooth test delivery
We’re Interested In People Who Have:
- A strong interest in RF engineering, EMC or electronics testing
- Any hands-on experience with electronics or RF measurements (including during an apprenticeship, college course or first role)
- The ability to write clear technical notes or documents
- Good communication skills and confidence working with customers
- Willingness to travel occasionally in the UK or overseas
- Basic ability to use equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analysers or antennas (training provided)
Essential Qualifications: You’ll need one of the following:
- An electrical or electronics-based Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3)
- HNC/HND in an electrical or electronics discipline
