About the role
We are looking to appoint a Family Support Worker on a full‑time basis (35 hours, 5 days per week) to deliver a high‑quality family support service as part of our Kentown Team. Reporting to the Family Support Manager and working in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, you will provide needs‑led emotional, social and practical support to families where a child or young person has a life‑threatening or terminal illness.
Responsibilities
- Provide emotional, social and practical support to families dealing with life‑threatening or terminal illness in children.
- Support families in bereavement, understanding grief, loss and change.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and volunteers to deliver high‑quality service.
- Write case studies and family updates to support fundraising.
- Promote practice of child protection, information sharing and data protection.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experienced child health, education or social care professional (community environment preferred).
- Recognised qualification in education, health or social care.
- Warm, inclusive approach with ability to achieve goals quickly and correctly.
- Practical, people‑oriented, comfortable working fast‑paced and accurate.
- Confident IT user (MS‑Office).
- Persuasive and open communicator.
- Knowledge of diversity issues affecting children and families.
- Full current driver’s licence; enhanced DBS required.
