Our client is a leading Large Format & Exhibition Display company. The Project Director plays a critical leadership role within the business. This position exists to build, lead and elevate a high-performing Project Management team capable of delivering complex, high-quality projects consistently. This is a hands-on leadership role, balancing strategic oversight with day-to-day involvement. The Project Director sets standards, drives accountability, supports development, and ensures the team operates as a unified, motivated and commercially aware group. Success in this role is measured by the strength of the team, the quality of delivery and the confidence with which projects are executed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the Project Management team, building a culture of trust, accountability, and high performance.
    • Set clear expectations and standards for project delivery, communication and professionalism.
    • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, and development discussions.
    • Onboard and integrate new Project Managers, ensuring they are fully supported and aligned with company standards.
    • Foster a positive, motivated, and resilient team that performs well under pressure.
  • Project Oversight & Delivery
    • Maintain oversight of all live projects, ensuring they are correctly resourced, well-managed, and delivered to a high standard.
    • Support Project Managers with complex or high-risk projects, stepping in where needed to maintain momentum and quality.
    • Ensure consistency in project processes, documentation, and reporting across the team.
    • Act as a point of escalation for issues affecting delivery, clients, or internal teams.
  • Standards, Systems & Compliance
    • Uphold and continuously improve project management systems, processes and documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with health & safety requirements, including RAMS, method statements, and site documentation.
    • Take responsibility for ISO and ESSA standards, contributing to audits and accreditation processes.
    • Drive operational efficiency through clear processes, structured workflows, and consistent best practice.
  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Act as a key link between Project Management and Design, Production, and Installation teams.
    • Maintain strong internal relationships to ensure alignment, clarity, and smooth handovers.
    • Build and maintain positive client relationships, ensuring confidence in the delivery capability.
    • Communicate clearly and decisively with senior management, providing visibility on risks, performance, and resourcing.
  • Commercial & Cultural Leadership
    • Promote a commercial, solutions-focused mindset across the team.
    • Encourage ownership, initiative, and pride in delivery.
    • Lead by example, calm under pressure, decisive when needed, and supportive at all times.
    • Reinforce company values through actions, behaviours, and decision-making.
