We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Engineering Geologist to join a growing and well-respected ground investigation consultancy working across Essex and the wider South East. Based near Colchester, this role offers the chance to work on a broad range of residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects across the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a geology graduate or early-career Engineering Geologist looking to gain hands-on experience and progress within a supportive and technically strong team.
The Role
You will play a key role in delivering ground investigation projects across Essex, splitting your time between site and office-based work.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising ground investigations including trial pits and boreholes
- Logging soils and rocks in accordance with BS5930
- Soil and groundwater sampling and monitoring
- Overseeing drilling contractors on site
- Preparing factual and interpretative reports
- Supporting geotechnical and geoenvironmental assessments
- Maintaining high health & safety standards
Requirements
- Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or similar
- 1-4 years' experience in ground investigation
- Strong understanding of site investigation techniques
- Full UK driving licence
- Good communication and report writing skills
Desirable
- Experience working on projects across Essex / South East
- Phase 1 & Phase 2 reporting experience
- Knowledge of contaminated land risk assessments
- Working towards Chartership
