A well-established engineering and plating facility near Heathrow Airport is seeking a practical, reliable Environmental and Industrial Waste Operative to support waste management, housekeeping, and environmental compliance within a busy plating shop environment. This is a hands-on permanent role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards, working safely, and supporting operational efficiency across production and laboratory teams. Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing or heavy engineering environment, with chemical handling experience could be suitable.

Role and Location:

  • Environmental and Industrial Waste Operative
  • Near Heathrow Airport, West London
  • Shift: Mon-Fri 6:30am – 2:30pm
  • Salary: £25,268 – £27,500

Candidate must hold unrestricted rights to live and work in the UK. No sponsorships can be provided, now or in the future.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Safely package, label, and transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste
  • Prepare waste for collection and support external contractors on-site
  • Maintain high housekeeping (5S) standards across the plating shop, pits, and treatment areas
  • Clean plating tanks, equipment and surrounding areas to prevent residue build-up
  • Support effluent treatment and waste systems upkeep
  • Operate jet-wash equipment for routine servicing
  • Carry out basic mechanical tasks to support plant maintenance
  • Monitor and test equipment alarms where required
  • Inspect and maintain grit blast and shot peen areas
  • Accurately complete documentation and records
  • Uphold strict Health & Safety and environmental compliance standards at all times

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Awareness of PPE use and safe working practices
  • Experience handling hazardous waste (desirable)
  • Forklift and/or cherry picker licence (desirable)
  • Aviation or regulated industry experience (advantageous)
  • COMAH awareness beneficial
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on environment with regular exposure to chemicals and industrial materials (full PPE provided)
  • Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Flexibility required for shifts, overtime, and occasional weekends
