We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our dynamic and reputable engineering client based in Peterborough. Our client provides a large range of machinery and services to a wide sector of the food processing industry, both in the UK and globally. The salary for this role is negotiable dependent on the experience that the candidate can bring to the role, plus car and many benefits.
Our clients' projects are currently spread in the UK, Continental Europe, USA, Middle East, Africa & Central Asia. This role is predominantly office based out of their office in Peterborough.
The Role
Working from the project manager's own initiative, with support from our close-knit projects team, fulfilling inception to completion project engineering and management. The role requires a project manager with high self-determination and ability to drive activities to conclusion.
The project manager responsibilities include:
- Managing & driving the project timeline
- Working with the customer to establish working line layout and agreeing KPIs, work with the customer standards
- Conducting detailed & effective site surveys
- Owning and driving the equipment layouts & design approval process
- Delivering all necessary reporting & documentation to the customer, driving push-pull requirements
- Internal project progress reporting, following our project protocol
- Selecting & sourcing equipment from our own range of products and our partner companies
- Generate P&IDs & PFDs to interface with system integrators
- Supplier tendering, negotiations and equipment purchasing
- Commercial ownership of invoicing timing, project cost tracking and monitoring including in-project variations
- Conduct our own internal fabrication quality and pre-assembly inspections and those with the client prior to despatch
- Documentation gathering for manual compilation and training purposes
- Ensuring all necessary certification is in place
- Arranging shipping of equipment in concert with our Logistics Team
Candidate Attributes
- Eligible to work in the UK
- Preferably HNC/HND or above qualification in engineering
- Ideally 3 years industry/field experience
- Good understanding of machinery processes and design with a logical approach
- A good balance of pre-engineering experience and hands-on engineering aptitude
- Dynamic, enthusiastic and flexible approach and willing to travel (at times on extended durations, planned and agreed well in advance)
- Excellent commercial awareness
- Excellent people skills and clear communicator with the ability to form strong customer and peer relationships
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of the following: Microsoft Project & Office range of programs
- Ideally AutoCAD conversant to support generation of P&IDs, layout modification and drawing interpretation
