Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Site Services Engineer to join their engineering and maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on electrical professional with experience in transformer breakdowns, fault finding, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) within industrial or heavy engineering environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of site electrical infrastructure, responding to breakdowns quickly while supporting ongoing maintenance activities across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance, inspection, and repair work on transformers and associated electrical equipment.
  • Respond promptly to transformer breakdowns and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with site schedules and compliance standards.
  • Diagnose faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and upgrade projects across site services systems.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and electrical regulations.
  • Complete maintenance reports, documentation, and service records accurately.
  • Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and operations teams to improve equipment reliability.
  • Assist with shutdowns, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and health & safety at all times.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Site Services Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of transformer systems, electrical distribution, and industrial maintenance.
  • Experience dealing with transformer breakdowns, fault diagnosis, and reactive maintenance.
  • Background in planned preventative maintenance within a manufacturing, utilities, or industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage or low-voltage systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and safety-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations preferred.
  • HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering advantageous.
  • IOSH or other health & safety qualifications beneficial.
