An excellent opportunity has arisen for an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and reputable manufacturing business based in Birmingham. This role offers a competitive salary alongside an attractive benefits package, including a salary sacrifice pension scheme with matched contributions up to 10%. Onsite occupational health, tool purchase program and external training provided on PLCs, hydraulics etc as well as a structured development assessment program totalling over £10K of incremental salary increase.
The Role
As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of manufacturing and site equipment. You will work within a structured maintenance environment focused on safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out front-line electrical repairs and maintenance activities
- Perform predictive and preventative maintenance to reduce downtime
- Maintain manufacturing machinery and ancillary/site service equipment
- Diagnose faults using electrical drawings and PLC systems
- Support machine reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
- Liaise with production teams regarding downtime, repairs, and plant handovers
- Deliver effective and efficient breakdown response
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and quality procedures
- Work collaboratively within a flexible engineering team environment
Requirements
- Electrical Maintenance background or multi-skilled with electrical bias.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline
- Time-served apprenticeship
- Strong electrical fault-finding ability
- Good understanding of PLC systems
- Ability to interpret electrical circuit drawings
- Heavy engineering or manufacturing experience
- 17th Edition Wiring Regulations
Desirable
- ONC or HNC in Engineering
- Experience within heavy industry
- Knowledge of EHS procedures in manufacturing environments
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
