We are seeking an experienced Shift Electrician to join a high-speed, 24/7 food manufacturing facility in Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled electrical maintenance professional with experience in fast-moving manufacturing environments who is looking for a long-term career within a safety-focused and dynamic team.

Role Overview

As a Shift Electrician, you will be responsible for providing both reactive and planned electrical maintenance across production lines and site services. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, maintaining safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise production downtime
  • Diagnose faults using structured fault-finding techniques
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities
  • Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance records
  • Conduct quality checks and inspections to company standards
  • Support and promote health and safety best practices across the site
  • Ensure adherence to safe systems of work, including Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation
  • Consistently wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Completed Electrical Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a high-speed FMCG or manufacturing environment
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience with 3-phase systems, drives, and controls
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and ladder logic
  • BSth Edition qualification
  • Understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations and safe working practices

Desirable

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with Allen Bradley / Rockwell PLC systems
  • BS2391 Inspection and Testing qualification
  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installations
  • AutoCAD experience for electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Previous project involvement

Shift Pattern

Continental shift rotation: 2 12-hour day shifts, 2 12-hour night shifts, 4 days off. Average 37.5 hours per week. Extended breaks built into the rota (including periodic 14-day breaks). Overtime available (subject to approval).
