They are looking to hire a Transport Planner to join their operations team. This is a crucial role in the company's logistics function, responsible for planning and coordinating daily deliveries to ensure customer orders are completed safely, legally, and on time.
As the Transport Planner, you will play a key part in coordinating daily driver and logistics operations, ensuring smooth workflows, compliance with transport legislation, and maximising fleet efficiency. You'll also be the main point of contact for internal teams and customers, and your attention to detail and problem-solving skills will be vital in resolving delivery issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and schedule daily delivery routes ensuring full compliance with drivers' hours, the Working Time Directive, vehicle weight limits, and site access requirements.
- Regularly communicate with customers to confirm delivery dates, access, and unloading arrangements.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, yard, and drivers, to ensure smooth delivery execution.
- Prepare driver manifests and delivery documentation.
- Provide clear route plans to drivers.
- Provide an excellent standard of customer service, responding to queries and resolving operational issues.
- Report accurate transport data, including KPIs related to service, efficiency, and compliance.
- Respond effectively to changes such as urgent delivery requests or operational challenges.
- Previous experience in a transport or logistics planning role.
- Excellent customer service skills and telephone manner.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Working awareness of transport legislation, including drivers' hours, Working Time Directive, and vehicle weights (desirable).
- Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Full UK driving licence (essential) and willingness to drive a 3.5-tonne vehicle or above (advantageous).
- Experience in using ERP and scheduling systems is beneficial.
- Calm, organised, and professional under pressure.
- Salary 30K – 33K DOE.
