We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our passionate team at a primary school in East Grinstead. This is a role to start in September 2026 and the successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to provide outstanding support across various classes and subjects, mainly in lower KS2. This role is ideal for someone with a proactive attitude, a love for education, and the drive to make a positive impact in children’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead small group and one‑to‑one interventions in literacy, numeracy, and other subjects to support targeted student progress.
  • Deliver planned lessons in the absence of a teacher, maintaining classroom standards and a positive learning environment.
  • Assist with planning and assessment, providing insights into students’ progress and areas for development.
  • Encourage and foster independence in pupils, helping to build confidence and a love for learning.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with special educational needs, adapting resources and teaching strategies as required.
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver differentiated support for students, ensuring that each child's individual needs are met.
  • Uphold school policies on safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion, contributing to a safe and positive school culture.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Prior experience working in a school setting, preferably as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
