Search Consultancy is looking for an experienced Shuttering Joiner to join our busy civils and structures teams across Durham. We are partnering with leading groundwork contractors and RC frame specialists who require "formwork" experts capable of constructing precise moulds for heavy-duty concrete pours and structural foundations. If you are a Joiner who thrives in a high-volume environment and can move seamlessly from traditional timber shutters in deep excavations to advanced proprietary systems like PERI or Doka, we have immediate starts and long-term runs of work available now.
The Role
- Formwork & Shuttering: Constructing and installing high-quality timber and system shutters for foundations, ground beams, retaining walls, and pile caps.
- Groundwork Support: Working alongside groundworkers to ensure all sub‑structure formwork is perfectly aligned, braced, and "concrete-ready."
- System Knowledge: Utilizing modern formwork systems (e.g., PERI, Doka, Skydeck) as well as traditional bespoke timber‑built shutters.
- Technical Accuracy: Reading and interpreting site drawings to ensure all structures are built to the exact line, level, and dimensions required by the site engineer.
- Striking & Maintenance: Safely striking (dismantling) formwork once the concrete has cured and ensuring equipment is cleaned for the next pour.
- Productivity Driven: We need Joiners used to the speed of major County Durham civil engineering and commercial projects who can maintain high output while ensuring a "water‑tight" finish.
Requirements
- CSCS Card: A valid Blue or Gold card is mandatory.
- Experience: Proven track record in shuttering and formwork specifically within a groundwork or heavy civils environment.
- Technical Skills: Ability to work accurately from drawings and experience with both timber "tube and fitting" and system formwork.
- Physical Fitness: Must be comfortable working in excavations and capable of handling heavy shuttering panels and equipment.
- Tools & PPE: Full professional carpentry tool kit (including cordless drills/impact drivers) and standard 5-point PPE.
- Right to Work: Must have a valid right to work in the UK.
Why Work With Search?
