Location: Dudley

Rate: 21.65 per hour

Job Purpose: To be one of the councils professional officers for arboriculture, advising council members, officers from other departments, members of the public, Borough solicitor and risk management officer on tree related issues and to ensure the sensitive and appropriate management of the borough's tree stock. Responsible for the management, organisation and administration of the arboriculture team for a specific area of the borough.

Background/Experience:

  • Experience of managing staff and budgets
  • Experience of producing technical documents and report writing
  • Competent in ICT skills including MS Office applications and working with databases
  • Familiarity with condition assessment of trees and VTA
  • Knowledge of modern arboriculture practices
  • Experience of working with the public

Qualifications and Training:

  • Recognised arboriculture qualification to national diploma level or above
  • Must have a category B driving licence

Practical Skills:

  • The ability to identify trees and diagnose injury, disease, decay and structural defects
  • A working knowledge of legislation applicable to trees, in particular planning legislation, tree preservation orders and relevant British standards
  • A working knowledge of all aspects of arboriculture operational techniques and tree management including health and safety issues on risk assessments
  • Knowledge and understanding of nature conservation and biodiversity issues including wildlife and habitat management
