We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Upholsterer to join a manufacturing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform upholstery tasks on a variety of furniture pieces, including but not limited to sofas, chairs, ottomans, and headboards.
  • Apply and attach upholstery materials using various techniques, including stapling, sewing, gluing, and tacking, while ensuring precision and consistency.
  • Inspect furniture frames and make necessary repairs or modifications before upholstery to ensure structural integrity and stability.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to interpret furniture specifications, fabric choices, and customer preferences accurately.
  • Work with a range of tools and equipment, such as upholstery machines and staple guns, ensuring their proper maintenance and safety.
  • Uphold high-quality standards and attention to detail throughout the upholstery process to meet customer expectations and industry regulations.
  • Adhere to production schedules, meet deadlines, and manage multiple upholstery projects concurrently while maintaining efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace.
  • Continuously improve skills and stay updated with industry trends, techniques, and new materials in upholstery.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Upholsterer, preferably in a furniture manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of upholstery materials, tools, techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to interpret furniture specifications, design drawings, and fabric patterns to produce high-quality upholstered pieces.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform intricate upholstery tasks.
  • Familiarity with different furniture construction techniques and ability to make necessary repairs or modifications to furniture frames.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality standards throughout the upholstery process.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet production deadlines.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand, bend, lift, and carry heavy furniture pieces or materials.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with designers, production staff, and other team members.

Working hours: Monday to Thursday 6.30am to 16.45pm, 39 hours per week. The role pays up to £17.70 per hour.
