About the Company

Our client is a leading international manufacturing and supply chain business specialising in the production and distribution of fluid-based products for industrial markets worldwide. Due to continued growth and transformation, we are looking for an experienced Despatch & Warehouse Manager to lead our Liverpool-based operation.

The Role

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Despatch & Warehouse Manager will lead all warehouse, inventory, despatch, and customer logistics operations across the Liverpool site. This is a senior operational leadership role with responsibility for managing a large warehouse and logistics team, ensuring safe and compliant operations, and driving continuous improvement across inbound and outbound supply chain activities. A key focus of the role will be supporting the implementation and optimisation of a new WMS/ERP system, alongside maintaining high standards across export logistics, inventory accuracy, compliance, and customer service. The role manages a team of approximately 35 employees, including supervisory staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead warehouse, inventory, and despatch operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient handling of products
  • Support and drive WMS & ERP implementation projects, including process development, testing, training, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure full inventory traceability and high levels of stock accuracy through effective warehouse controls
  • Manage international despatch operations, including export documentation, dangerous goods declarations, and shipment compliance
  • Oversee logistics providers and transport partners to ensure service, compliance, and cost targets are achieved
  • Drive improvements in OTIF performance, customer satisfaction, and operational KPIs
  • Act as a key escalation point for logistics and customer service issues
  • Lead customer and regulatory audits, ensuring full audit readiness and compliance documentation
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations including AVSEC, Dangerous Goods, ADR, IATA, IMDG, and controlled substances requirements
  • Lead, coach, and develop warehouse and logistics teams to improve performance, engagement, and capability
  • Work cross-functionally with supply chain, customer service, and logistics teams to improve operational visibility and performance
  • Promote a strong health & safety culture and continuous improvement mindset throughout the operation

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for an experienced operational leader with strong warehouse and logistics management experience within a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing environment.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in warehouse and despatch management
  • Strong background in export logistics and international shipments
  • Experience working within hazardous goods, chemicals, manufacturing, or regulated environments
  • Hands-on experience with WMS and ERP implementation or transformation projects
  • Strong understanding of Dangerous Goods regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing third-party logistics providers and transport operations
  • Strong leadership experience managing large operational teams
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and functions
  • Customer-focused approach with strong attention to detail

Desirable

  • Experience within chemical, fluids, manufacturing, or industrial sectors
  • Knowledge of AVSEC / Known Consignor requirements
  • Continuous improvement or Lean / 6S experience
  • Forklift operations awareness or warehouse operational certifications
