We are seeking an experienced EHS contractor to take a leadership role in Environmental, Health, and Safety governance, and compliance within a global manufacturing company near Leicester. This role is accountable for strengthening EHS management systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving sustained improvements in safety culture, environmental protection, and operational risk control.
Responsibilities
- Provide EHS leadership and governance across site-level Environmental, Health & Safety systems, ensuring compliance with UK legislation.
- Own the EHS risk management and compliance framework, including risk assessments, control verification, and continuous improvement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and management systems, ensuring audit readiness.
- Monitor and report EHS performance, identifying trends, systemic risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Govern incident investigations, ensuring effective root cause analysis, corrective actions, and Just Culture principles.
- Lead EHS training and competency frameworks, ensuring regulatory compliance and workforce capability.
- Deliver internal and external audit programmes, ensuring issues are tracked and resolved.
- Partner with operations, engineering, and maintenance to embed EHS into day-to-day decision-making.
- Oversee supplier and contractor EHS risk management and compliance standards.
- Support regulatory engagement, claims defence, and legal EHS matters with strong documentation and governance.
- Ensure accurate EHS data, reporting, and recordkeeping to meet compliance and corporate governance requirements.
Requirements
- Qualification in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in EHS roles within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Demonstrable experience in EHS systems ownership, governance, or compliance management.
- Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations and enforcement frameworks.
- Proven experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
