Role Overview

Our client is looking for a seasoned Project Director with over 15 years of relatable experience to take full accountability for a flagship infrastructure project in Kettering. This is a high-level strategic role designed for a leader who can navigate the complexities of multi-million-pound HV network upgrades, energy centre modernisation, and intricate mechanical‐electrical interfaces. The successful candidate will provide executive‐level oversight, ensuring the project aligns with broader commercial objectives while maintaining rigorous technical standards and high‐level stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Direct the delivery of external HV infrastructure upgrades (up to 11kV), ensuring the project integrates seamlessly with the wider regional network.
  • Executive Oversight: Manage the full scope of energy centre upgrades and internal diesel generator installations, providing the final technical and commercial sign‐off for critical power phases.
  • Integrated Solutions: Coordinate the strategic alignment between electrical infrastructure and the installation of new boilers for heating mains, ensuring a unified MEP delivery.
  • Commercial Accountability: Full responsibility for the project's financial performance, including P&L management, risk mitigation strategies, and high-value procurement.
  • High‐Level Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary interface for the client's executive board, local authorities, and senior DNO officials.
  • Operational Excellence: Foster a culture of safety and quality, ensuring all works exceed industry standards and regulatory compliance for high‐voltage and critical power systems.
  • Mentorship: Lead and develop the internal project management team, driving professional standards across the site.

Technical Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: 15+ years of demonstrable experience in senior leadership roles within the MEP or heavy infrastructure sectors.
  • HV & Critical Power Expertise: Extensive background in delivering HV systems (up to 11kV) and large‐scale backup power solutions.
  • Complex Project Delivery: Proven ability to manage multifaceted projects involving both high‐end electrical distribution and industrial mechanical systems (boilers/heating mains).
  • Qualifications: Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or a relevant Degree in Engineering is highly desirable. Significant experience in contract law (NEC/JCT) and senior‐level commercial management. SMSTS and Black CSCS Card.
  • Leadership Traits: A strategic thinker with a track record of delivering high‐stakes projects on time and within budget through effective team leadership.
