Software Developer - 6-month contract
Location: Edinburgh. Hybrid. Outside IR35. £480 per day.
Harvey Nash's public sector client is currently looking to recruit a Developer to join their team based in Edinburgh for an initial 6-month period.
Essential responsibilities include:
- Accelerating the transition from legacy on-prem registers to new cloud‑native solutions.
- Collaboratively developing serverless micro‑services using AWS Lambda functions and TypeScript/JavaScript.
Essential Skills:
- AWS including CDK, Serverless (Lambda), S3, API Gateway, CloudFormation.
- TypeScript (or modern JavaScript).
- Experience making high quality software with others.
- Working with business stakeholders to understand context and deliver value.
- Design and implementation of solutions using a service‑based and serverless architecture.
- Excellent collaboration, communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience working in Agile delivery models such as Scrum and/or Kanban frameworks.
- Developing within GDS or Digital First (or similar) quality standards.
- Cloud monitoring, telemetry, intelligence tools and processes.
- Formal XP engineering techniques, including Pair Programming and Test‑Driven Development.
- Defining infrastructure‑as‑code.
Desirable Skills:
- Human‑centred, research‑driven, inclusive design practices.
- Testing tools and frameworks such as Cypress.
- Use of UI pattern libraries to achieve consistent, tested and high‑quality interfaces.
