We are working with a well‑regarded Secondary School in Colchester that is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their supportive SEN and pastoral team. Job Overview
- Support students across KS3-KS4 within lessons and intervention sessions.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEN, SEMH, or additional learning needs.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to support student progress and wellbeing.
- Help students remain engaged, focused, and confident within the classroom environment.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with vulnerable students.
- Support behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
- Monitor and report student progress and wellbeing concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.
- Contribute to creating a positive, calm, and inclusive learning environment.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience working with young people, SEN, SEMH, or behavioural support is desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Passion for supporting young people's learning, wellbeing, and development.
- Good behaviour management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
