A well-established aerospace and defence manufacturing business is seeking an experienced CNC Miller Setter / Operator to join its precision machine shop team based in Romford. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled aerospace machinist with strong 4-axis and 5-axis milling experience to join a growing business manufacturing high-quality precision components for demanding industries.
Working within a modern and well-equipped machining environment, you will be responsible for setting and operating advanced CNC milling machinery while ensuring components are manufactured to the highest quality standards.
The Role- Set and operate CNC milling machines including:
- Matsuura 5-axis machining centres
- Mori Seiki horizontal machining centres
- Haas VMCs
- Manufacture precision aerospace and defence components to tight tolerances
- Work from engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Carry out multi-datum setting and complex offset adjustments
- Ensure components meet customer and quality requirements
- Support continuous production within a fast-paced machine shop environment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot machine or process issues when required
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety, and quality
- Proven experience as a CNC Miller Setter / Operator
- Strong 4-axis and 5-axis machining experience
- Aerospace or defence manufacturing background preferred
- Experience with Fanuc controls
- Good working knowledge of:
- Matsuura
- Haas
- Mori Seiki machinery
- Ability to set machines right first time
- Experience working to tight tolerances and complex engineering drawings
- Mechanical engineering qualification, ONC/HND, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience
- Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
- Positive and team-oriented attitude
- £40,000 - £48,000 DOE
