Join Gi Group supporting one of the UK’s biggest supermarkets, Asda, as a Class 1 Driver. We’re looking for professional drivers for a long‑term partnership in Asda, Bedford. You will help keep the nation fed by delivering to stores and petrol stations across the region.
Role & Responsibilities
- Chilled & frozen loads, mostly stored in cages but some cases may be pallets
- 1–3 store deliveries, to supermarkets or petrol station stores
- Operate Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles (always paid at Class 1 rate)
- Conduct thorough vehicle checks and maintain accurate digital tachograph records
- Drive as per ASDA professional standards, coached and trained on arrival
- Manage Working Time Directive and Driving Hours rules to meet compliance expectations
- Act as the professional face of the brand when arriving at stores
Shifts
- Daily and weekly bookings
- Available start time windows: 03:00‑06:00, 13:00‑18:00 or 22:00‑02:00
- Minimum 1 weekend day availability is a must
- Weekend‑only work available
- Full‑time and part‑time opportunities

- Automatic pay rises at 12 and 27 weeks

- Week 12 rates:
- Days 06:00‑14:00: STD 19.47 p/h & Overtime 27.40 p/h
- Backs 14:00‑22:00: STD 22.10 p/h & Overtime 30.03 p/h
- Nights 22:00‑06:00: STD 23.66 p/h & Overtime 31.59 p/h
- Week 27 rates:
- Days 06:00‑14:00: STD 20.57 p/h & Overtime 28.50 p/h
- Backs 14:00‑22:00: STD 24.81 p/h & Overtime 31.18 p/h

Class 1 Driver Requirements
- Valid UK Driver Cards (Driving Licence, CPC and DIGI Cards)
- Minimum 6 months Class 1 licence + 6 months Class 1 driving experience
- Previous experience in store deliveries preferred but not essential
- Max 6 penalty points accepted for minor offences (no DR or DD offences)
- Availability to work weekends essential for this 24/7 operation
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, with attention to detail
