A specialist engineering and infrastructure business is looking for a reliable and hardworking Warehouse & Yard Operative to join their busy Chesterfield operation on a temp-to-perm basis. This is not a standard warehouse role. The position involves working with specialist equipment used across rail, infrastructure, construction and engineering projects throughout the UK. The role would suit someone who enjoys hands-on work, doesn’t mind working outdoors and is looking for a long-term opportunity within a specialist industry.

Duties Include:

  • Picking and preparing equipment for projects
  • Loading and unloading vehicles and containers
  • Moving heavy and awkward items safely
  • Cleaning and organising returned equipment
  • Supporting warehouse, stores and yard operations
  • Working with ropes, cables, mesh and specialist kit
  • Keeping operational areas tidy and organised
  • Assisting the wider depot and workshop team when required

The Ideal Candidate Will Be:

  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual work
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Hands-on and practical
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
  • Able to work at pace when required
  • Willing to learn specialist equipment and processes
  • Safety-conscious with a good attitude

Experience That Would Be Useful:

  • Warehouse or yard work

  • Forklift work
  • Loading/unloading experience
  • Plant hire or industrial experience

A forklift licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
