A specialist engineering and infrastructure business is looking for a reliable and hardworking Warehouse & Yard Operative to join their busy Chesterfield operation on a temp-to-perm basis. This is not a standard warehouse role. The position involves working with specialist equipment used across rail, infrastructure, construction and engineering projects throughout the UK. The role would suit someone who enjoys hands-on work, doesn’t mind working outdoors and is looking for a long-term opportunity within a specialist industry.
Duties Include:
- Picking and preparing equipment for projects
- Loading and unloading vehicles and containers
- Moving heavy and awkward items safely
- Cleaning and organising returned equipment
- Supporting warehouse, stores and yard operations
- Working with ropes, cables, mesh and specialist kit
- Keeping operational areas tidy and organised
- Assisting the wider depot and workshop team when required
The Ideal Candidate Will Be:
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual work
- Reliable and punctual
- Hands-on and practical
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
- Able to work at pace when required
- Willing to learn specialist equipment and processes
- Safety-conscious with a good attitude
Experience That Would Be Useful:
- Warehouse or yard work
- Stores or stock control
- Construction or engineering environments
- Forklift work
- Loading/unloading experience
- Plant hire or industrial experience
A forklift licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
