W Talent are delighted to be working with a rapidly growing UK manufacturer specialising in the production of fire-rated entrance doors supplied into the social housing, residential, healthcare, education and commercial sectors. Following significant growth and continued investment, the business is entering a transformative phase, including a move into a larger manufacturing facility and ambitious plans to increase production output substantially over the coming years. This role offers the opportunity to play a key leadership role within a fast-paced, bespoke manufacturing environment where quality, customer satisfaction and operational excellence are central to success.

The business currently operates a 24-hour production facility, manufacturing bespoke products to short lead times, with a strong focus on improving efficiency, standardising processes and building a high-performance culture.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, the Production Manager will be responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations across a multi-shift production environment, ensuring production targets, quality standards, customer delivery expectations and operational KPIs are consistently achieved. You will play a key role in preparing the operation for future growth, supporting process improvements, embedding standard operating procedures and developing a collaborative, accountable culture across the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage production operations across a 24-hour manufacturing facility
  • Manage and develop production teams, including shift leadership, to create a high-performing and engaged workforce
  • Monitor and drive improvements in OTIF, quality, output and OEE
  • Standardise production processes and implement robust SOPs
  • Identify and deliver opportunities for cost reduction, waste elimination and process optimisation
  • Support operational readiness for a new manufacturing facility transition, including people, process and equipment improvements
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to improve customer satisfaction and operational performance
  • Ensure production schedules are achieved within a bespoke, fast-moving manufacturing environment
  • Promote high standards of health & safety, quality and operational discipline throughout production
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing activities

Key Skills

  • Proven experience in a Production Manager or senior manufacturing leadership role
  • Strong people leadership and team development experience
  • Success improving quality, OTIF, cost and operational performance
  • Experience working within a multi-shift manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of CNC machinery and manufacturing processes
  • Experience implementing process improvements and operational standards
  • Able to operate effectively within a fast-paced growth environment
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kanban or waste reduction methodologies
  • Six Sigma experience (formal qualification not essential)
  • Experience standardising manufacturing processes and implementing SOPs
  • MRP / production planning systems knowledge
