Salary: £46,000 per annum.

Hours: Rotating Monday to Friday shifts with occasional weekends, full-time permanent contract, immediate start available following a successful interview process.

We are looking for an experienced engineer to join a well‑established manufacturing site in Cheltenham. This is a hands‑on role within a fast‑paced production environment, supporting site operations through breakdown response, planned maintenance, and continuous improvement.

The Role

As a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of production and site equipment to ensure minimal downtime and consistent output. You will work closely with production teams, applying fault‑finding skills across electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. The ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic drawings is a core requirement of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide reactive breakdown support across the site
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Diagnose and repair faults on electrical and mechanical systems
  • Work on motors, gearboxes, conveyors, chain drives, pumps, and bearings
  • Read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics
  • Support production teams to maintain output and efficiency
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and housekeeping
  • Support continuous improvement and engineering projects as required

Candidate Requirements

  • Multi‑skilled maintenance engineer (approx. 60/40 mechanical or electrical bias either way)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a fast‑paced engineering or production environment
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding capability
  • Experience working with single‑phase and three‑phase electrical systems
  • Working knowledge of PLC‑controlled machinery
  • Basic knowledge of inverters and control systems
  • Pneumatics experience
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic drawings
  • Relevant engineering and/or electrical qualifications
  • Good understanding of health & safety

Desirable Experience

  • Steam boilers
  • Steam and condensate systems
  • Heat exchangers
  • Soft water plants
