GSL are seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support students in a secondary school setting with identified learning needs, including SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health). This role is based in an Ofsted-rated Outstanding school and involves supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.

- In-class support across a variety of subjects
- Targeted 1:1 and small group interventions

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with additional needs. You will work closely with subject teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to deliver personalised support strategies that enable students to engage with the secondary curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional learning needs
- Support students in accessing a range of secondary subjects (e.g. English, Maths, Science)
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff
- Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to staff
- Support students during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times where required
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with secondary-aged students
- Patience, resilience, and adaptability
- A genuine interest in supporting young people with SEN/SEMH needs
- Proactive approach and willingness to work as part of a team
- Previous experience in a school or similar setting is desirable but not essential
