CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is looking for a skilled Fabric Technician to join our team in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on maintenance professional with experience in building fabric maintenance, carpentry, painting and decorating, and general repairs. In this role, you will support the safe, efficient, and high‑quality upkeep of a client site, completing both planned and reactive maintenance tasks while delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete repairs to doors, walls, ceilings, floors, fixtures, and fittings, including minor carpentry and fabric works.
- Undertake painting, decorating, patch repairs, and general building maintenance tasks to a high standard.
- Support minor plumbing works, basic lighting maintenance, filter changes, and other general site maintenance activities.
- Inspect site conditions, identify defects, and produce clear reports, risk assessments, and method statements where required.
- Use PDA or maintenance systems to accurately record work completed, updates, and follow‑up actions.
- Liaise professionally with client representatives, contractors, and colleagues to ensure a high level of service delivery.
- Carry out all tasks safely and in line with health and safety procedures, including COSHH, working at height, and safe systems of work.
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong practical skills in carpentry, building fabric repairs, painting and decorating, and general maintenance.
- Experience working with fire doors and an understanding of building compliance requirements.
- City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in carpentry or a related trade is preferred.
- Experience working in commercial, corporate, or high‑profile environments is advantageous.
- Good IT skills, including the ability to use mobile devices or maintenance management systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills with a professional approach.
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, instructions, and safe working procedures.
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations, including COSHH, risk assessments, and working at height.
- Full UK driving licence.
