Payroll & Pensions Manager

Cambridge or Huntingdon

Hybrid working available

Full time - 37 hours per week

£42,000 - £45,000 per annum

Pertemps is working in partnership with a respected education provider to recruit an experienced Payroll & Pensions Manager. This is a brilliant opportunity for a payroll professional who wants real ownership of a critical function, with the chance to improve processes, strengthen reporting, and make a real impact across the organisation.

The Role

  • Lead the full payroll and pensions service, ensuring employees are paid accurately, statutory obligations are met, and all processes run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Manage the end-to-end payroll function.
  • Oversee PAYE and HMRC submissions.
  • Administer TPS and LGPS, including reconciliations and statutory reporting.
  • Maintain and improve the iTrent payroll system.
  • Produce payroll reports, forecasts, and audit information.
  • Act as the main contact for payroll and pensions queries.
  • Support and develop the Payroll/HR Administrator.

About You

We’re looking for someone with solid payroll management experience and a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation. You will ideally have:

  • Experience in a medium to large organisation.
  • Knowledge of PAYE, statutory reporting, and payroll compliance.
  • Experience with TPS and/or LGPS.
  • Confidence using iTrent or a similar HR/payroll system.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management ability.

A relevant payroll qualification such as CIPP or AAT would be an advantage.
