A reputable regional M&E Contractor is looking for an Electrical Estimator to join their established team in Cambridge or Norwich. The company provides M&E services to a wide range of clients across a variety of sectors including Commercial, Education, Research & Technology, Healthcare and Leisure. These projects are typically valued between £2m and £6m.
This role is also open for an ambitious Junior Electrical Estimator to develop their career in estimating and step into the commercial side of projects gaining valuable knowledge and guidance to pre‑construction from an experienced M&E team.
As the Electrical Estimator, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Preparing accurate and competitive electrical tenders using estimating software package.
- Close liaison with new and existing clients regarding any enquiries received and assigned, always representing the business in a professional manner.
- Attend site surveys or tender interviews.
- Manage the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
- Liaise with other departments regarding completion of all information as identified as required within the enquiry.
- Evaluate supplier and sub‑contract returns to ensure compliance with the tender specification.
- Maintaining and updating cost databases to reflect current market trends, material prices and labour costs ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Provide ongoing assistance to the projects team if requests for the generation of variation costs are received.
Successful applicants will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Overall knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of electrical systems and their installation methods.
- Experience within a similar position as an Electrical Estimator within the commercial sector.
- Electrical qualifications.
- Confident communicator.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- The ability to work under pressure to meet set deadlines whilst managing multiple tenders.
- The ability to plan, co‑ordinate and prioritise tenders.
