My client is a leading provider of infrastructure inspection and risk management services, supporting the safety, compliance and performance of critical civil engineering assets across the UK. Their specialist inspection teams deliver high‑quality structural assessments on highways and infrastructure projects, using a range of access techniques to safely inspect challenging locations. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Structures Inspector to join their expanding highways infrastructure team.
What You Will Be Doing
- Carry out structural inspections, investigations and surveys on highways structures across the UK.
- Use specialist access methods to inspect and examine a variety of structures in accordance with relevant technical standards and specifications.
- Lead the safe and successful delivery of inspection and survey activities.
- Support pre‑work planning, including site visits, liaison with landowners, agents and contractors, and reviewing safe systems of work.
- Produce detailed inspection reports and technical documentation.
- Prepare drawings and sketches using CAD software.
- Work closely with colleagues and clients to deliver high‑quality inspection services.
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of the highways infrastructure team.
What You Will Need
- Experience working in a Structures Inspector or similar structural inspection role.
- Knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
- Familiarity with CS450 and the Inspection Manual for Highways Structures.
- Awareness of Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme (BICS) requirements at Inspector or Senior Inspector level.
- Experience using asset management systems such as IAMIS, AGILE, Bridge Station or similar platforms.
- Experience completing local authority and BCI inspection reports.
- Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline (desirable).
- Ability and willingness to travel nationally.
- Confidence working at height and within confined spaces.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Applications are also welcomed from STE4 Rail Examiners looking to broaden their experience within the highways sector, as many skills are highly transferable.
