Hays is recruiting a Financial Controller / Head of Finance for a growing fashion and retail brand. The role reports to the CEO and involves shaping the future of the business, supporting senior leadership with strategic decision‑making and managing day‑to‑day finance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Own day‑to‑day finance operations, ensuring accurate accounting and strong controls.
  • Deliver month‑end and year‑end accounts and lead engagements with external auditors.
  • Manage cash‑flow forecasting, fixed assets and bank reconciliations.
  • Oversee monthly payroll, annual budgeting and assist with year‑end accounts.
  • Lead projects such as ERP migrations and collaborate with internal teams and external consultants.
  • Maintain, analyse and challenge costs.
  • Act as a commercial partner to senior leadership, providing insight to support decision‑making and pricing strategy.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Experience in e‑commerce or retail is beneficial.
  • Background in a start‑up environment, capable of building processes.
  • Experience with SAP is beneficial.
  • Strong Excel and IT skills.
