Position Overview

As a teaching assistant, you will work closely with classroom teachers to provide essential support to students across various age groups and abilities. Your role will involve assisting with classroom activities, providing one-on-one support to students, and helping to maintain a positive and stimulating learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom teachers with the delivery of lessons and activities, including setting up resources and materials.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who may require additional assistance with their learning.
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN) by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
  • Help to manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and other support professionals to ensure the smooth running of the classroom.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar support role is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across different year groups and classroom settings.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are advantageous but not essential.
