Veritas Education are working with a special school who are requiring a 1-1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a student with complex needs and learning difficulties. The school is a supportive and inclusive special school committed to delivering exceptional education and care to children with SEN. Their mission is to create a positive and empowering learning environment where every student can succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with a designated student to provide tailored educational support and assistance.
- Implement and follow the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) to meet their specific learning needs.
- Support the student in all aspects of their daily routine, including academic tasks, social interactions, and personal care if required.
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment to help the student build confidence and independence.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to the student's education.
- Monitor and report on the student's progress and well-being to inform ongoing support strategies.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Proven experience supporting adults and/or children with complex needs is essential.
- Personal experience supporting a family member with SEN/PMLD is also valued.
- Level 2 Team Teach is essential, although this training can be offered by Veritas.
- Safeguarding training is essential, although this training can be offered by Veritas.
- GCSE English and Maths is essential.
- Strong knowledge of SEN is essential.
- Strong communication, empathy, and patience are crucial.
- The ability to handle challenging situations with calm and professionalism is a must.
- A dedication to improving the lives of students with complex needs and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to adapt to the varying needs of students and the school environment.
- A moving and handling qualification is preferred.
- Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration.
- Have proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
