Job Purpose: We are seeking a Sample Reception Technician to join a busy laboratory operation supporting the receipt, logging, and preparation of samples for testing. This role is critical to ensuring samples are accurately tracked, stored, and distributed to laboratory teams in a timely and compliant manner. The position offers a temp-to-perm pathway with strong long-term prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving, checking, and booking in samples delivered to the laboratory
- Accurately labelling, logging, and registering samples onto internal systems
- Ensuring samples are handled, stored, and prepared in line with procedures
- Liaising with laboratory teams to prioritise and distribute samples for testing
- Identifying and reporting any discrepancies, damaged samples, or incomplete information
- Maintaining accurate records and traceability of all received samples
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety and quality standards
- Keeping the sample reception area clean, organised, and efficient
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience in sample reception, laboratory support, logistics, or a similar role (desirable but not essential)
- High attention to detail and ability to accurately record information
- Basic IT skills and confidence using computer systems
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and a Tuesday-Saturday rota
