The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, meticulous, and proactive Road Freight Operator to manage end-to-end freight forwarding operations. This isn't just about moving goods; it's about owning the entire process, ensuring seamless service from collection to delivery, with full responsibility for crucial customs compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of road freight movements across the UK and Europe (Groupage, Part Load, Full Load).
- Handle all associated documentation, ensuring absolute accuracy.
- Execute end-to-end customs procedures, including import and export declarations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Liaise extensively with customers, hauliers, overseas agents, and internal departments.
- Negotiate rates and procure services from transport providers to maximise profitability and service quality.
- Proactively monitor shipments, troubleshoot potential issues, and provide timely updates to clients.
What You Bring
- Proven experience as a Road Freight Operator or similar role within a freight forwarding environment.
- Essential hands-on experience and strong knowledge of customs procedures (HMRC declarations, CDS).
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation abilities.
