Software Engineer Location: Birmingham (3 days onsite) | Salary: £55,000 - £70,000
VIQU is recruiting a Software Engineer for a growing technology business building cloud-native platforms across AWS, IoT, and AI-powered solutions. The role sits within a small engineering team focused on delivering scalable, serverless systems that connect real-world infrastructure with modern backend services and applications. This is a backend-leaning full stack role, working primarily with TypeScript/Node.js in an AWS environment, with some frontend (React) exposure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain backend services using TypeScript/Node.js
- Develop within an AWS environment (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB)
- Contribute to frontend development using React where required
- Own features end-to-end from design through to deployment
- Collaborate with stakeholders and contribute to technical decisions
- Support CI/CD pipelines and improve system performance and scalability
Key Requirements:
- Experience as a Software Engineer / Full Stack / Backend Engineer
- Strong TypeScript/Node.js experience
- Hands-on AWS experience (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, or similar)
- Experience building APIs and scalable backend systems
- Comfortable working across the stack (backend-focused)
- Experience with CI/CD and Docker
Desirable:
- React and TypeScript frontend experience
- Serverless or event-driven architecture experience
- Exposure to Python or Go
- Interest in AI/LLM tooling or IoT systems
