Senior Management Accountant – Belfast

Senior Management Accountant – Belfast – £55,000 – £65,000 per annum.

You will join a large, privately owned organisation that has grown to a size where finance drives strategic decision‑making. The leadership team is commercially focused and committed to elevating the finance function through better insight, faster reporting, and smarter technology.

About the Role

You will report directly to the Finance Director and work closely with senior leadership. From day one you will take ownership of the monthly management accounts, balance‑sheet integrity and the narrative behind the numbers. You will partner with stakeholders, challenge assumptions, and ensure finance plays a visible role in commercial decisions.

Within 12‑18 months there is a clear expectation that you will step into the Financial Controller role, taking full ownership of the finance function and leading the team.

You will also have license to modernise finance operations, reducing manual effort, improving reporting processes and introducing practical automation and AI tools where they add value.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) operating in a senior management accounting, finance manager or similar role.
  • Strong experience producing monthly management accounts.
  • Solid grounding in financial control, balance‑sheet management and month‑end close.
  • Experience in a product‑based or operationally complex environment.
  • Commercial confidence – comfortable challenging stakeholders and explaining what the numbers really mean.
  • Hands‑on mindset, willing to get into detail when needed.
  • Genuine interest in finance automation, reporting improvement and practical use of AI.
  • Aspirations to progress into a Financial Controller role and take full ownership of a finance function.

What you’ll get in return

  • Salary of £55,000 – £65,000, with flexibility for the right candidate.
  • Performance‑related bonus.
  • Clearly defined pathway to Financial Controller within 12‑18 months.
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and board‑level reporting.
  • Real autonomy to improve processes, controls and reporting.
  • Opportunity to modernise a finance function using automation and AI.
  • A stable, profitable, and growing organisation with long‑term opportunities.
