A well-established, purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation in Northern Ireland is seeking a Finance Officer to join their team. This organisation delivers impactful programmes that support community inclusion and improve access to opportunities for individuals facing barriers, working collaboratively with partners across Northern Ireland and cross-border regions. This role sits within a large, multi-partner programme designed to enhance digital participation, confidence, and community engagement for individuals and carers. Key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining financial systems, records, and ledgers in line with funder and regulatory requirements
- Supporting monthly management accounts and year‑end reporting processes
- Assisting with funding claims and ensuring accurate supporting documentation
- Monitoring budgets, producing variance analysis, and providing financial insights
- Supporting budget planning, forecasting, and cashflow management
- Processing invoices, payments, and reconciliations accurately and on time
- Assisting with payroll processes including salary and pension administration
- Supporting audit processes and ensuring compliance with funding regulations
- Providing financial guidance to programme partners and stakeholders
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of financial controls and procedures
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week), based in Belfast with travel required across Northern Ireland. The role is offered on a fixed‑term basis until March 2029 (subject to funding).
Essential criteria:
- At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics
- A recognised qualification in finance, accounting, or relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a finance role
- Experience with financial processing, reconciliations, ledger management, and reporting
- Experience supporting audits or compliance processes
- Proficiency in financial systems (e.g. Sage) and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non‑finance stakeholders
- Understanding of GDPR and data protection requirements
- Full driving licence and access to transport (or ability to meet travel requirements)
Desirable:
- Working towards a professional finance qualification
- Experience within grant‑funded or multi‑partner programmes
- Knowledge of public sector financial governance
- Experience within the voluntary or community sector
- Familiarity with cross‑border or multi‑jurisdictional projects
