This Governance Officer role is responsible for managing a highly effective and compliant governance function within a highly regulated Higher Education environment. You will work closely with Board members, senior leadership teams, and governance colleagues to ensure all governance, regulatory, and assurance requirements are met in line with sector expectations and statutory obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver effective governance, committee and assurance systems
- Draft and manage governance documentation including Board papers, reports and policies
- Provide accurate and professional minute taking for Board and Committee meetings
- Provide governance and regulatory advice to senior stakeholders and Board members
- Lead forward planning of Board and Committee activity
- Deliver governance training and support compliance initiatives
- Maintain governance records, registers and published information
- Support Board recruitment, succession planning and governance projects
- Manage governance-related risk alongside Legal and Executive teams
- Line manage administrative support staff and ensure excellent service delivery
Skills, Experience & Attributes
- Experience within governance, compliance or assurance in a regulated environment
- Previous experience of minute taking within senior-level or Board meetings
- Strong report writing, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
- Confident using Microsoft Office and IT systems
- Professional, proactive and able to handle confidential information with discretion
Although a temporary role we anticipate the duration of the assignment to be of a longer nature. Parking may be made available onsite.
