Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting tutors in Barnsley. We collaborate with local authorities to provide 1:1 tuition for students accessing alternative provision.

Role Overview

The majority of tuition referrals are for joint English and Maths, often for students working below the expected age range. The current opening requires an English and Maths tutor for a Year 8 student who is below the expected age range. Expected delivery of knowledge: KS2 – KS3. The student has a SEN status of ADHD and ASD.

  • Hours: 10 hours per week
  • Pay: £20 – £30 per hour

Tuition Locations

  • Within schools
  • Within public places
  • Within students' homes

At all locations, an appropriate adult will always be present (parent, carer, or guardian) to ensure safety. Sessions are scheduled within school hours, 9 am – 4 pm, but we provide flexibility on timings to suit tutors.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants do not need to hold a teaching qualification. Required is a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher, or relevant experience within the education sector. We also expect candidates to have at least six months of experience in a school or educational setting, which can include roles such as teacher, teaching assistant, or pastoral/support staff.
