Pertemps are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Driver Team Leader to join their Neighbourhoods service based at Pembroke Road. This is a hands-on frontline leadership role responsible for delivering safe and efficient domestic and commercial waste collection services across the local area.

The Role

  • Leading and coordinating a waste collection crew
  • Carrying out daily vehicle checks and ensuring vehicles are maintained to required standards
  • Ensuring all health and safety procedures and safe systems of work are followed
  • Supporting operational efficiency and service delivery across allocated routes
  • Reporting operational issues including missed bins, contamination, fly tipping and accidents
  • Communicating effectively with supervisors and operational teams
  • Acting as a positive ambassador for the service and supporting high team standards

This role requires someone who can make reactive operational decisions while maintaining health and safety and customer service standards at all times.

About You

  • A current HGV Class C Licence with CPC qualification
  • Significant post-qualification driving experience
  • Experience driving waste collection vehicles
  • Strong understanding of health and safety responsibilities
  • The ability to lead and motivate a small operational team
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Confidence using in-cab technology and smartphones for reporting purposes

Desirable Experience

  • Minimum two years’ experience driving waste collection vehicles
  • Previous experience within waste, recycling or environmental services
