SEN Science Teacher needed in Redditch, Worcestershire

Location: Redditch, Worcestershire

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic educator to join our alternative provision setting, supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism and related behavioural challenges.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to teach Science in a nurturing and therapeutic learning environment that values relationship-based practice and individualised support. Working with a small group of students, you will deliver engaging lessons that inspire curiosity and confidence in science, while supporting pupils' personal and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a broad and balanced Science curriculum tailored to individual learning needs
  • Create a safe, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
  • Build positive relationships with students to support their SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral staff
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches accordingly

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred - but we welcome applications from unqualified teachers with relevant experience
  • Experience or strong interest in working with SEMH, autism and/or behavioural needs
  • Strong classroom management skills and a trauma-informed approach
  • Passion for Science and creative, flexible teaching methods
  • Empathy, resilience and a commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable young people
