A well-organised and supportive secondary school in Redditch is seeking an experienced and highly organised Exams Officer to join the school on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled administrator with school-based experience to play a key role in the successful management of all internal and external examinations throughout the academic year. The successful candidate will oversee the full examination cycle, ensuring all processes are carried out in accordance with JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements. You will work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, students and invigilators to ensure the smooth and efficient running of exams across the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the full examinations process including entries, amendments and withdrawals
- Liaising with awarding bodies including AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC
- Ensuring compliance with JCQ regulations and examination procedures
- Producing and maintaining examination timetables
- Organising exam rooms, seating plans and candidate registers
- Recruiting, training and coordinating invigilators
- Processing access arrangements and special consideration applications
- Managing the secure storage and handling of confidential examination papers
- Coordinating results days and post-results services
- Maintaining accurate student data using SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom
- Producing and presenting examination data reports where required
- Supporting the wider administration team during busy periods
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working within a school environment
- Experience as an Exams Officer or within school administration
- Knowledge of SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom or similar school MIS systems
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong IT and data management abilities
- A professional and proactive approach to work
- A clear understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures
Knowledge of JCQ regulations is highly desirable; however, training can be provided for the right candidate.
