A well-established multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking an Assistant Structural Engineer with around 2 years experience to join its growing team in Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer with some consultancy experience to develop their technical skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Opportunity

You will be joining a dynamic structural engineering team delivering projects across a range of sectors including commercial, residential, energy, and R&D. Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will gain exposure to both new build and refurbishment projects, supporting your progression towards Chartership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out structural design and analysis in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
  • Use industry software such as Tekla and TEDDS
  • Collaborate with architects, clients, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Support project coordination, planning, and reporting
  • Attend meetings and liaise with stakeholders
  • Conduct site visits and ensure compliance with design and safety standards
  • Contribute to innovative design solutions and problem-solving

About You

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
  • Ideally 2+ years' experience within a structural consultancy
  • Experience designing in common building materials
  • Understanding of geotechnics and foundation design
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and keen to develop professionally
  • Working towards Chartership (IStructE or ICE)
