Our client, a prominent player in the rail sector, is currently seeking an Assistant Engineering Manager for Headhouses & Fitout on a contract basis. This role is instrumental in supporting the technical delivery of designated headhouse, shaft, civil, MEP, and architectural fit‑out elements within rail projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting Senior Engineering Managers and Asset Engineering Managers in delivering engineering activities across S&H assets
- Assisting with discipline coordination to ensure design and construction information is consistent, technically correct, and integrated
- Supporting the implementation of the Engineering Management Plan, standards, processes, and procedures
- Contributing to constructability reviews and technical assurance activities
- Assisting in managing technical documentation, assurance records, and engineering deliverables
- Helping monitor and manage technical change, ensuring impacts are identified and escalated appropriately
- Supporting the review of departures, deviations, and NTSN‑related design considerations
- Promoting and championing Health, Safety and Welfare (HS&W) within engineering activities
Job Requirements
- Relevant degree or higher and associated professional qualifications
- Experience in project‑based design and engineering management across all project stages
- Extensive experience with large complex projects within the rail, highways, water, or energy sectors
- Deep understanding of engineering principles and extensive technical knowledge
- Proven experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams
- Understanding of digital engineering during design and construction phases and using the Digital Plan of Works
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Relevant CSCS Card
