We are seeking a detail-oriented, technically skilled Architectural Technologist to join our growing design team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between creative design concepts and technical reality. You will be responsible for transforming initial architectural concepts into detailed, regulation-compliant construction packages, detail drawings, and technical specifications. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of building anatomy, construction regulations, and material science, backed by high proficiency in either AutoCAD or Vectorworks (proficiency in both is a major plus). You will work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered accurately, sustainably, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and coordinate detailed drawing packages, tender documents, and construction drawings using AutoCAD or Vectorworks.
- Detailing & Specifications: Create robust, high-quality construction details (roofing, cladding, waterproofing, etc.) and write comprehensive material specifications.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with local Building Regulations, planning policies, and health and safety standards.
- Collaboration & Coordination: Work alongside internal design teams and external consultants (structural engineers, MEP, etc.) to integrate technical systems into the architectural design.
- Site Support: Attend site meetings, conduct surveys, and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) from contractors to resolve on-site technical issues.
- Quality Control: Conduct technical reviews of drawings and documents to ensure accuracy and consistency before project submission.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology, Architecture, or a closely related field. Professional accreditation (e.g., CIAT, MCIAT, or regional equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Software Expertise: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks is required. Familiarity with BIM software (like Revit) or 3D modeling tools (SketchUp, Rhino) is a strong advantage. Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an Architectural Technologist or Technical Designer, preferably across Residential / Commercial / Mixed-use sectors.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of building physics, construction methods, structural principles, and material performance.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical clients or contractors.
