We are looking for a proactive Yard/Warehouse Operator to support the smooth, safe, and efficient running of our depot. About the Role
As a Yard/Warehouse Operator, you will play a key part in the safe handling of stock, supporting deliveries, and ensuring customer orders are prepared accurately and on time. You will help maintain high standards across the warehouse and yard while contributing to a positive team culture and strong operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Health, Safety & Environment
- Follow all safety instructions and complete all required inductions.
- Operate equipment in line with safe operating standards.
- Use PPE correctly and report any hazards, incidents, or equipment issues.
- Monitor and report on depot assets to ensure legal compliance.
- Warehouse & Yard Operations
- Assist with the safe loading and unloading of vehicles.
- Follow Goods In and Goods Out procedures: checking, storing, picking, packing, and loading.
- Ensure stock is safely stored and rotated correctly.
- Prepare customer collections and support depot coverage.
- Monitor picking bin stock levels and report shortages.
- Maintain a clean, organised warehouse and yard.
- Support RMA processing and report damaged returns.
- Drive the delivery van when required.
- Work within rota requirements including breaks.
- Reporting
- Report incidents, delivery issues, and operational concerns promptly.
- Communicate any HR-related matters such as sickness notifications.
- General Duties
- Support general depot tasks as required.
- Contribute to a positive team spirit and open communication.
- Work in line with company processes and continuous improvement expectations.
Key Performance Indicators
- Accuracy and completeness of picking and deliveries.
- Stock control, security, and correct rotation.
- Adherence to Health & Safety and environmental standards.
Skills & Experience
- GCSE/O-Level education.
- Valid driving licence (essential).
- Forklift/telescopic licence (advantageous).
- Knowledge of local geography/transport routes.
- Good communication skills and strong team spirit.
- Product knowledge (beneficial).
